Dedication is the commitment and willingness to put your time, effort, and energy into your dreams to make them come to life.
What is dedication and why do we need it?
Dedication is the commitment and willingness to put your time, effort, and energy into your dreams to make them come to life. It means being fully devoted to a particular cause to make success reach your footsteps. At one point in our life, we all find ourselves distracted from the goal we were supposed to commit to. We find it difficult to stick to the plan and the ultimate goal remains unachieved. What to do then? Here comes the role of dedication. To achieve the desired goals and objectives, one needs to be dedicated to the purpose of the same. Then how do we increase dedication? Let's find out.
Advantages of increased dedication
It is said that "To become a master in dedication, you need to implement the total effort of your heart, mind, and soul working together in tandem.". This mastery will help you achieve a lot of goals.
There are countless benefits of increased dedication. Let's count some of them here:
Dedication brings a sense of self-control which adds up to the overall growth of a human in every sphere of life.
It brings consistency to our life and we continuously work for the better.
It brings a sense of discipline and opens the road to success.
It leads to an increase in productivity and enhances the self-worth of an individual.
It motivates an individual to not give up and try again till the desired goal is achieved.
Last but not the least, it helps your dreams come true and achieves your goals.
Ways to increase dedication
Attach your interest
To increase your dedication towards a task, you need to start attaching the task with objects that interest you the most. The task will become less monotonous and will draw your attention towards it every time you take a break. This little trick will deceit your mind into working towards the goal with a tremendous amount of interest. Not only will this increase your dedication, but also ensure a good amount of productivity. For example, if you start attaching "History of India" with pictures, graphics, and illustrations, not only will it become less boring but will also make memorizing easy.
Make a routine and practice time management
Plan a routine and start mapping your day around it. Practice time management and give a significant and planned amount of time to each task in a routine. This increases our dedication because we can focus our attention on one task at a time. Planning a routine also brings about a sense of discipline and it is well known that discipline is the key to success.
Take rest
Take a good amount of rest to increase your focus. A tired mind cannot be a dedicated mind. The more stress, the less is the productivity. A research study by Meijman and Mulder (1998) has shown that rest and breaks decrease fatigue and improve performance. Temporarily relieving the individuals from a particular task helps them to mobilize energy which directly affects our dedication towards the desired goal. Hence, breaks are necessary.
Operant conditioning
Apply the phenomena of Operant conditioning on yourself, i.e., reward yourself for small victories and achievements of the day. The excitement of the reward will make you work hard for the small wins and increase the overall dedication towards different tasks. This will increase productivity, commitment and bring a sense of fulfillment. Small victories lead to the big ones.
Takeaway Message
It is well said that "Dedication is one unique power which is capable of converting your life from rags to riches". The best part is that everyone has this power, but they just need to find a way to make it accessible to themselves. If put to good use, this power can do wonders in real life. Dedicate yourself to your goals, and watch yourself reap the benefits of it in a few years. You don't have to follow success; success will follow you if it feels the presence of dedication.
